Didier Drogba Transfer Rumor
After Chelsea turned down Didier Drogba’s plea for a two-year contract extension, Drogba has been heavily linked away from Stamford Bridge; he refused to sign a one-year contract extension, and now reports have surfaced that Drogba is headed towards Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua.
Also vying for Drogba’s signature are Dalian Aerbin, another club in the Chinese Super League. It’s rumoured that the latter club have offered Drogba a staggering £200,000-a-week salary.
It’s almost improbable that Drogba will extend his contract by a year and stay at Chelsea. However, I am of the conviction that manager Andre Villas-Boas has made a huge mistake by not giving Drogba a two-year contract extension. In recent weeks, Didier has been in superb form and has lived up to his status—especially in big games. Remember Valencia?
Daniel Sturridge has yet to develop into a world-class player, often playing the selfish game rather than helping the team. And although Fernando Torres is regaining some of his form, you can never be sure about El Nino, or Villas-Boas’ plans for him.
