Insider: Alton Howard Still Considering UCF
Edgewater high school wide receiver Alton Howard made his commitment to the University of Tennessee early on in December. Since then, negative stories out of Knoxville have swirled around Volunteers head coach Derek Dooley and concerned some recruits.
The second year head coach has lost four assistants off of his 2011 staff. Two of them left for lateral positions at Washington and receivers coach Charlie Baggett quit the program shortly prior to Howard’s choice was made.
Also, two Georgia prospects de-committed from the Vols this past weekend. At the end of the day, 6-7 and 5-7 campaigns in his first two seasons have put the heat on the son of legendary coach Vince Dooley.
In this video interview shot Tuesday at the ESPN Wide World of Sports following practice for the Under Armour All-American Game, Howard talks Tennessee, his experience as an Under Armour All-American, and the fact that UCF remains in the mix to land his commitment.
