Nationals’ Ramos Moving On After Kidnapping
VIERA, Fla. (AP) — Washington Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos doesn’t want to live in the past this season.
In line to be the Nationals’ starter, Ramos said Tuesday that he no longer wants to rehash the details of his kidnapping and harrowing rescue while playing winter league ball in his native Venezuela.
He did, however, address how the ordeal has affected him and rejuvenated his drive to be the opening day starter in his second full season with the Nationals.
Ramos caught for standout pitcher Stephen Strasburg during bullpen work and manager Davey Johnson says he likes what he sees so far.
He says Ramos obviously made improvements. Johnson said that if Ramos is healthy, the Nationals will have one of the best catching corps in baseball.
